Will Sinatra Survive ?
I have been reading the general disapproval, almost abuse which greeted Frank Sinatra's latest music. No admirer of his peculiar art myself, I could not but notice that all the so-called criticisms were biased in the extreme by the unfortunate publicity Sinatra has received.
Even more joy was felt by me on comparing some of the remarks with some of Bing Crosby's early press reports in this country. One read " Through it all Crosby croons apparently interminably. There are some hardy people who can not only endure, but actually enjoy it. I am not one of them.
However Bing survived because the public was the final judge. It will be interesting to see how Sinatra fares.

Brothers Too Far
I fervently hope this isn't an example of what we can expect of new music and comedy films. The Marx Brothers recent film for one, with it's wild swing music and obscene innuendo is an outrage to all decent film goers. I think this will hardly be remembered as Hollywood's golden moment.

A Drug Cycle
Now that the ban has been lifted, the psychoneurotic cycle threatens to take a new turn - drug addiction.
An old timer, I can well remember the previous wave of "dope" melodramas.
Example: Myrtle Stedman (then famous) staggers into 'Frisco "hop - joint". Subtitle: "Gimme a lot, I wanna dream of my baby tonight."
Of course it won't be done that way now, but words like "mezz" "tea" "viper" "mu" "muggles" etc. (all slang for marijuana) will, I suppose, be as familiar to us as the "fire" worshipper.
In any case it will be a change from our old fan amnesia.
